Safety Training Systems, Inc. (STS) completed modifications and updates to a Boeing B-737 Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer (CEET) for Southwest Airlines. STS updated “Poolie” - a Boeing 737-700 CEET, with multiple modifications bringing the trainer up to new FAA training standards. “Poolie”, named after Sandy Poole - an early leader in the SWA training school, began its aviation career as a Boeing 737-300 commercial jet flying airline passengers around the country. Southwest Airlines approached STS to build the state-of-the art CEET and in 1993, STS delivered Poolie to Southwest’s training facility in Dallas, Texas. The goal for the CEET was to design and manufacture a trainer that could not only survive the harsh training environment, but also last for many years to come. Fast forward to today - Poolie is still center stage at the Southwest Airlines Training School after nearly 30 years!
